School of Volunteer Management Training Services

The role of the School of Volunteer Management (SVM) is to enhance the development of volunteering in the community by assisting organisations and individuals to maximise their potential through the provision of high quality volunteer management education and training activities. The School is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) No 90031, and is the training arm of The Centre for Volunteering.

The training in volunteer and general management and other training services the School provides include:

Arrow  Registered Training Courses
Allowing individuals to obtain nationally recognised qualifications at certificate and diploma level relevant to not-for-profit organisations. Students can achieve their qualification through formal course work by distance learning or through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or a combination of these.

Arrow  Customised Training
Designed to meet an organisation's specific needs and requirements and is delivered on-site for the client.

Arrow  Current Short Courses
Courses on specific topics are scheduled from time to time and are conducted at the School and other locations. These are usually of 2 to 3 hours duration. See Training News or SVM e-news for details.

Arrow  Individual Training
Helping individuals address their training needs by “piggybacking” PD workshops conducted for organisations, or undertaking a “bespoke” training program or attending Short Courses.

Arrow  Professional Development (PD) Workshops
For many years the skilled trainers of the School have delivered high quality professional development training to thousands of volunteers, coordinators, managers and management committee members throughout NSW. The School offers over 20 Professional Development Workshops.

Arrow  Bridge to Volunteering
This two hour introduction to volunteering and is run weekly at The Centre for Volunteering's Sydney office and is free for individuals booking through The Centre’s Volunteer Referral Service. The course is also conducted for organisations, usually on-site, and fees apply.

Arrow  Training Advice and Assistance
Helping organisations gain maximum value from their training budgets by identifying training needs and developing plans to address them. This is a free service but some conditions apply.

Arrow  Training Projects
Undertake these on behalf of organisations, for example, developing training courses for accreditation.

Arrow  Consulting
The School's consultants, who are also experienced trainers and educators, have many years experience as managers and consultants in the not-for-profit, government and corporate sectors and are able to work with organisations to improve their effectiveness.

In delivering these services the School utilises the services of its high quality and experienced training specialists and consultants.
