The role of the School of Volunteer Management (SVM) is to enhance the development of volunteering in the community by assisting organisations and individuals to maximise their potential through the provision of high quality volunteer management education and training activities. The School is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and is the training arm of The Centre for Volunteering.
The education and training in volunteer and general management, and other training services the School provides include:
Accredited Courses

Customised Training

Current Public Courses
Courses on specific topics are scheduled from time to time and are conducted at the School and other locations. These are usually short courses of 2 to 3 hours duration. See Training News or SVM e-news for details.

For many years the skilled trainers of the School have delivered high quality professional development training to thousands of volunteers, coordinators, managers and management committee members throughout NSW. The School offers over 20 Professional Development Workshops.

Training Advice and Assistance
Helping organisations gain maximum value from their training budgets by identifying training needs and developing plans to address them.
Training Projects
Undertake these on behalf of organisations, e.g. developing training courses for accreditation.
Consulting
The School's consultants, who are also experienced trainers and educators, have many years experience as managers and consultants in the not-for-profit, government and corporate sectors and are able to work with organisations to improve their effectiveness.
In delivering these services the School utilises the services of its high quality and experienced training specialists and consultants.
The need for relevant, quality educational and training opportunities has never been greater in a sector exploring significant, rapid and increased demand for services. In 2006, 5.2 million Australians over the age of 18 years volunteered in Australia, contributing an average 136 hours of time per volunteer, or 713 million hours in total. In this environment, organisations require competent team members who are led by responsive coordinators and managers who demonstrate innovative leadership.
