Strategic Leadership and Good Governance - The Role of the Management Committee/Board (1 day or two ½ days)
The workshop is designed for people who hold Committee/Board positions, or are considering such roles, who want to understand more fully their responsibilities. It comprised numerous case studies and exercises. (Note: The workshop can be conducted over two half-days. The half-day workshop Boards, Committees and Legalities, complements this workshop.)
Aim
To acquaint directors and committee members of not-for-profit organisations, and those considering such roles, with the responsibilities of boards/committees and individual members, and the governance and other issues necessary for the board to operate ethically and effectively.Topics include:
- The strategic leadership role of a board/committee
- The principles of good governance
- The duties and responsibilities of individual board/committee members
- The duties and responsibilities of office bearers
- The importance of the organisations constitution and relevant legislation
- The role and responsibilities of the executive committee, if formed
- Board/committee meetings
- The boards/committees and individual members relationship with the CEO/EO/Manager and the staff
